Turn that nervous anticipation of riding new lines into a sense of
relief with the new FR 1500 CLASSIC. These confidence inspiring wheels
feature a new rim profile, enabling them to be lighter while improving
their resistance to impacts and pinch flats. To reduce the weight even
more, the front wheel spoke count has been reduced from 32 to 28, thus
increasing their responsiveness to direction changes. All this built
around a hub that can already boast several World Cup victories: the
240.

Rim profile
The modification of the rim profile as well as the addition of material at specific places allows for increased resistance to impacts.
Rim flange
The reworked flange of the rim improves its resistance to pinch flats by 17% compared to the FR 1950 CLASSIC rim, according to tests conducted with a leading tire supplier.
Weight
The new rim profile, as well as the 28 spokes at the front, results in a weight reduction of 7% for a pair of wheels with identical specifications between the FR 1500 CLASSIC and the previous model, the FR 1950 CLASSIC.
Hub
The 240 hub has proven itself on the world circuit for many years, equipped with the Ratchet EXP 36T system and in a classic configuration, for uncompromising resistance.

The current DT Swiss wheels are tubeless-ready and come with mounted tubeless rim tape and corresponding valves. For conversion, you will need a tubeless-capable tire (optimal: UST) and tire sealant. You can find both at an official dealer. Our How To video will take you through step-by-step assembly.
If you have previously ridden your bike with a tube or if the tape no longer sticks properly to the rim, we recommend that you replace the rim tape as a precaution.
How to attach the tubeless rim tape:
1. Measure the inside width of the rim.
2. The tubeless rim tape should be approx. 2 mm wider than the rim and can be bought from a specialist store.
3. Apply the tubeless rim tape. Depending on the rim/tire combination, it may be helpful to apply two or three layers of tubeless rim tape to optimally seal the rim bed.

The tire should be pumped in line with the manufacturer's instructions, in order to ensure optimum rolling resistance.
Note: This can vary depending on the tire manufacturer and model. The tire pressure impacts both the ride comfortability and stability of the wheel. See our tire pressure table for an overview of maximum tire pressures depending on tire and rim width.

"Lightweight wheels are really important to us because the rotational mass of the wheel has a significant impact on how the bike handles, particularly during cornering, acceleration, and deceleration. Therefore, having these new wheels that are lighter yet stronger is truly beneficial."

"I have to say, we were impressed with the new 1500's in Fort William, we all used the same wheels through the event with the addition of a set solely for race runs of course. A couple of them could now do with a rim swap but none over the weekend and that's very impressive as I am sure you realise."

My favourite DT product this year has been the FR 1500 CLASSIC wheelset. It comes equipped with all the best components with a 240 hub and FR 541 rims which is a high performance and reliable combo.

«Overall, the DT Swiss FR 1500 wheelset has been the most reliable and trustworthy alloy option I’ve ridden. They’ve lasted through a solid chunk of the summer aboard a downhill bike without asking for much in the way of maintenance.»
