Tubeless

  • The current DT Swiss wheels are tubeless-ready and come with mounted tubeless rim tape and corresponding valves. For conversion, you will need a tubeless-capable tire (optimal: UST) and tire sealant. You can find both at an official dealer. Our How To video will take you through step-by-step assembly.

If you have previously ridden your bike with a tube or if the tape no longer sticks properly to the rim, we recommend that you replace the rim tape as a precaution.

How to attach the tubeless rim tape:

    1. Measure the inside width of the rim.

    2. The tubeless rim tape should be approx. 2 mm wider than the rim and can be bought from a specialist store.

    3. Apply the tubeless rim tape. Depending on the rim/tire combination, it may be helpful to apply two or three layers of tubeless rim tape to optimally seal the rim bed.

  • If the valve or tubeless tape is not attached correctly, air or tire sealant may get into the rim cavity and then leak out around the seam area. Ensure that the valve is seated properly, the tubeless tape is lying flat and the entire rim bed is covered with tubeless tape, including the inner side wall.

If there is too big a gap between the tire and the rim tape, the tire sealant won't seal quickly enough. It can help to add a second or third layer of tubeless tape here to ensure a closer fit between the tire and rim.

Bear in mind that sufficient tire sealant must be used for the first tubeless setup. You'll find the manufacturer's instructions on your tire sealant.

Carbon Wheels

  • At temperatures of 200 degrees, carbon will start to wave and lose its stability.

The exhaust gases from a car can be up to 500 degrees Celsius. When transporting your carbon wheel with a rear carrier, make sure that there is sufficient distance to avoid such defects!

Contact the manufacturer of your rear carrier for a protective device.

If you discover this deformation on your wheel, contact our Service Centre.

  • Is there a crash replacement program? The DT Swiss Fair-Share Policy is an additional offer from DT Swiss that allows the first owner of a carbon wheel to affordably repair the product in the event of damage while riding (e.g. due to a crash).

It's important to note that normal wear and tear and aesthetic surface-level damage  are not covered by the Fair-Share Policy. All information about the Fair-Share Policy can be found here.

Identification

  • The scope of potentially affected products can be limited to the following specific model series of ERC, CRC, HEC and ARC that were manufactured at the same production facility in Vietnam starting from August 1, 2024. Wheels

  • There are various reasons why your bike might be making a weird noise when riding. If the noise is coming from the wheel, the following checks might help.

    Check:

    • Is the quick-release / thru axle tightened with 15-20 Nm?
    • Are there cracks in the hub housing or freehub body?
    • Are there signs of wear on the spoke crossings?
    • Is the spoke tension even?

See also Section 5 "Maintenance & Care" in the user manual.

For professional evaluation, please contact our Service Center or a dealer. A video or audio recording of the problem would help us analyze the issue.

  • For MTB, boost hubs have become the new industry standard. The greater bearing distance increases the lateral stiffness of the bike and reduces ball bearing wear.

Unfortunately, you cannot convert non-boost hubs to wider distances nor boost to narrower distances (non-boost). This is because the boost hubs are wider in the center.

    78

Tires

  • The tire should be pumped in line with the manufacturer's instructions, in order to ensure optimum rolling resistance.

Note: This can vary depending on the tire manufacturer and model. The tire pressure impacts both the ride comfortability and stability of the wheel. See our tire pressure table for an overview of maximum tire pressures depending on tire and rim width.

Quality Test & Remedial Measures

  •  If a wheel is found to be defective, we will immediately contact you with proposal for a free replacement wheel.

    134
  • We aim to send wheels back after 10 working days. As this is comparable short and the overall quantity of wheels affected in the market is rather high we are not able to provide a fair temporary replacement to all affected riders. Instead we focus on a fast test and return process.

    0
  • This depends on the test result. If your wheels are tested and released, we will organize the return shipment of your product and will contact you via email as soon as your package is in parcel. The wheels will be returned in the same condition as they were delivered to us. If a wheel is found to be defective, we will immediately contact you with proposal for a free replacement wheel.

    0
  • We will check all wheels returned to us by conducting a quality test in order to identify the defective products. With this quality test, we define internal company requirements that exceed the specifications of the relevant industry standard (ISO 4210 series). Only products that fulfil these strict internal company requirements are declared as safe, labelled accordingly. Their serial numbers will be added to a so-called whitelist, so they can be returned after approval.

    0
  • As soon as we receive the wheels, we will process them as quickly as possible. Depending on the country, the processing time is estimated at a maximum of 20 working days during the first six weeks. Our target is to reduce this time to less than 10 working days.

  • Caution when choosing brake pads for wheels with rim brakes!

    • Only "SwissStop Black Prince" brake pads may be used on carbon rims.
    • Only "SwissStop BXP Blue" brake pads may be used on OXIC rims.

The use of incorrect brake pads can cause the rim to fail. DT Swiss takes no responsibility in this case. Please also note that brake pads which were previously used on aluminum rims must not be used on carbon rims. The aluminum abrasion in the brake pad can destroy the carbon. For further information about your wheel, please refer to the user manual.
